YouTube TV goes up to $72.99 per month

After a Multiview preview earlier this week, YouTube TV announce Increase the price today to $72.99 per month.

For just under three years, the basic plan cost $64.99 a month. YouTube TV — which is now promoting “more than 100 channels” — is $72.99 for new subscribers starting today, while existing members will see the new price starting Tuesday, April 18.

If you are currently on a Basic Plan promotional or trial rate, that promotion will remain in effect and will not change. After that, you’ll pay the new standard base price of $72.99.

Meanwhile, YouTube TV is dropping the price of the 4K Plus add-on today from $19.99 to $9.99 per month, which some subscribers offered as a deal earlier this year. Others can secure $4.99 per month for two years. Those who already paid for YouTube TV and 4K Plus (at full price) end up saving $2 with this change.

YouTube points to higher content costs and continued investment in “Quality of Service” for this $8 increase. The company announced NFL Sunday Ticket last year and struck a deal with The CW earlier this month, while recently losing ground to MLB Network.

We’re committed to bringing you a premium way to stream TV, but we understand that this new price may not work for you. We hope YouTube TV remains your choice, but we want to give you the flexibility to cancel at any time. yt.be/membership

YouTube TV went from $49 to $64.99 in July of 2020. The service started at $35 per month before hitting $40 in March 2018. YouTube TV then went to $49.99 for all users who no longer have a grandfather.
