iPhone 14 Plus Purple

Since its inception, the iPhone has been primarily available in black and white, but the iPhone 14 has seen the rise in popularity of other colors.
In a new report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), a survey of iPhone users reveals that shades of black or white are no longer the best choice. Instead, iPhone 14 is slowly starting to favor purple models.
Apple introduced a purple iPhone in 2019 with the iPhone 11 and introduced it again with the iPhone 12, although the lineup didn’t include it at the initial launch. The company deleted the purple color with the iPhone 13 but added it again with the iPhone 14 family.
As of December 2022, 42% of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users owned the purple model, compared to 23% for Space Black and Midnight and 11% for Starlight and Silver. The color options for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are more balanced at 26% for midnight, 12% for starlight, 14% for red, 22% for purple, and blue at 27%.
Users are expected to prefer white or black because Apple customers keep their iPhones for longer, and conservative color options sometimes sell better. But, Apple has heavily marketed the purple variant of the iPhone 14 range.
And while the fourth quarter of 2022 saw a shortage of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max versions, the purple models were sometimes the most available.
“Apple had some insight into the demand for purple iPhones based on their iPhone 11 and 12/mini experience,” the CIRP wrote. “So they correctly predicted high demand for purple phones, or their optimism about purple drove iPhone 14 Pro/Max demand into available purple inventory.”
There may also be specific demand trends based on gender and age, which the CIRP will examine in a later report.
