The new Xiaomi 13 lineup of smartphones isn’t all about the latest technology – and the right budgets. There’s plenty here for those on smaller budgets too: specifically the Xiaomi 13 Lite, which at £449 average retains some high-end features including a curved glass AMOLED display.
If you’re wondering why the 13 Lite doesn’t look like the Xiaomi 13 (which itself doesn’t look like the 13 Pro), that’s because it’s been on sale in India for several months already as the Xiaomi Civi 2. So instead of a Leica branded square camera on the back, you get It has a circular lens housed in a rectangular unit, which itself is surrounded by glass rather than the bioceramic seen on the 13 Pro.
Everything changes underneath, too, with a mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 CPU paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The 4,500mAh battery promises enough power for a day, and the 67W wired charging should be good for a full charge in about three-quarters of an hour.
There is a 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display on the front, with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’ll manage a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, and it supports major HDR standards like Dolby Vision and HDR10+, so you should be able to entertain you.
Xiaomi says this is a phone for selfie addicts. There’s a pair of front-facing cameras: a single 32MP sensor handles portraiture, while an 8MP unit handles depth information for what the company says is natural-looking bokeh blur. Dynamic framing mode also determines the number of people in the frame and automatically adjusts the field of view to match. The triple lenses on the back should be up to snuff, too, with a 50MP main sensor and a 20MP ultra-wide. We’re rarely impressed with 2MP macro lenses, but perhaps some people will appreciate their inclusion.
The best thing about her? There is no waiting time. While the regular Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro won’t arrive until March 14th, the Xiaomi 13 Lite goes on sale today, direct from the Xiaomi UK website, for £449. You can pick up one in green, pink or black colours.
