Phantom, Tecno’s premium sub-brand, is very young but very ambitious — it’s already preparing to launch its first foldable phone at MWC this year (which will launch later this month). Dubbed the Tecno Phantom V Fold, the device has been leaked multiple times, including in video.
Now an insider is talking to GizChina He added some information about what we saw in those leaks. The Phantom (and Tecno in general) like to evolve things at home and that includes the folding hinge.
The Phantom V Fold has a “reverse flexural structure,” a design that will improve the structural stability of the phone. This is further improved by using aerospace grade materials which are both strong and lightweight.
The leak also provided an official-looking photo. You can only make three lenses on the circular camera island, but it appears that these are just part of a five-lens setup (which is supposed to house two selfie cameras). The focal lengths of those lenses and the sensors behind them are still unknown.

Tecno itself has already confirmed that the Phantom V Fold will be powered by the Dimensity 9000+, which is an enhanced version of the 9000 (+5% CPU, +10% GPU). This chip was recently used in another foldable device, the clamshell Oppo Find N2 Flip.
note. A month ago, we shared a concept video of the Phantom V Vision, a phone that would combine a folding process with a sliding mechanism for a larger internal screen. The V-fold only does the folding part. It is not clear at the moment if the V Vision will be made into a real product, but we may find out more at Tecno’s event at MWC.
