GSMArena Labs: We are launching a 3D size comparison tool

For years now we’ve felt the need for a way to compare the relative sizes of different phones. We’ve been looking into making a widget with still images, but this never seemed like the right solution. Instead, we worked with our partners at Binkies 3D to build on the 3D viewer we launched a few years ago to allow you to view two phones side by side and examine them from all angles.

You can choose from a list of over 700 phones (and growing) and see them side by side with another phone. Just use our usual comparison feature, like putting the iPhone 14 Pro and Galaxy S23 side by side, for example, and you’ll see new 3D zoom buttons that let you jump straight into 3D.

Note: Our desktop site can display specs for up to three phones – there are buttons that allow you to compare any two of them in 3D with a single click.

We’ve also included a live demo below to help us explain some of the features. The first is the full screen button in the lower right corner. This view also displays four buttons that allow you to quickly jump between front, back, and side view.

Samsung Galaxy S23

If you don’t see anything above, there are some potential problems. The above demo will not work If you’re reading this on the AMP version of our site, use this link to go directly to our 3D size comparison page. Another possible problem occurs in Chrome – the 3D viewer does not work if hardware acceleration is disabled (find “Use hardware acceleration when available” in the settings).

Another cool thing is that you can switch between the different color options of the two phones. Models from Binkies 3D recreate the colors, gradients, and surface coatings of phones so you can see how each element — whether metal, glass, or plastic — catches light as it rotates around it.

Since this is displayed in 3D, you have the freedom to view the phones at any angle. This allows you to examine differences that are difficult to convey with still images. Phone screen (and back) curvature — check the Find X5 Pro against the Galaxy S23 Ultra, for example.

Once you are on the Size Compare in 3D page, you can easily use the search fields to swap one model for another. The search on this page has been filtered so that you only see phones that have 3D views available. Go explore.
