Vivo S16 Pro With Dimensity 8200 SoC And 12GB RAM Listed On Geekbench, Expected To Launch Soon

It seems that the Vivo S series of smartphones is in for an upgrade as soon as a new device appears on Geekbench. Vivo’s S series of smartphones slots in between the premium and mid-range segment and offers some premium features like 120Hz display and older generation chipset.

The currently available Vivo S15 Pro was launched back in May in China and had a starting price of CNY 3,399 (roughly Rs. 39,100) for the 8GB + 256GB variant and the 12GB + 256GB model costing CNY 3,699 (roughly Rs. 42,600). This was launched alongside the vanilla Vivo S15 devices which had lower pricing.

Vivo S16 Pro shows off some key features of the smartphone and the on-air listing seems to suggest that the company may make the smartphone official soon. The listing shows that the processor will have 8 cores with a base frequency of 2GHz, 4 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2GHz, another 3 cores with a maximum clock speed of 3GHz and another one at 3.10GHz. These indicate that this is the Dimensity 8200 SoC which is 5G enabled and has been used in other smartphones such as the iQOO Neo 7 SE 5G and OnePlus Nord 3 5G.

This chipset comes with Mali-G610 MC6 GPU along with 12GB of RAM. The smartphone will be running on the latest Android 13 with an expected OriginOS skin on top of it. The smartphone has a Geekbench 5 single-core score of 988 and a multi-core score of 3721.

The Vivo S15 Pro features a 6.56-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 92.7% screen-to-body ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR content, and we can expect an improvement on the back. In terms of cameras, the Vivo S15 Pro features a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, which also doubles as a macro lens, and a 2MP portrait lens. At the front, the phone offers a 32MP selfie camera.
