Xiaomi’s latest Android skin is more focused on better optimization and faster operations. The company says that it has reduced the number of pre-installed apps and more of them can be easily uninstalled.

Uninstall more system apps
Xiaomi says that they want users to have a clean user interface experience which is why they are going to release MIUI 14 with less bloatware. Not just this, but users will be able to uninstall more pre-installed apps on smartphones. Except for eight apps, any other app can be uninstalled from the Xiaomi or Redmi phone that will ship with MIUI 14. You can check the icons of all eight apps from the image above.
Large and changeable icons
MIUI 14 makes the interface more colorful. To make the visual experience more engaging, Xiaomi has increased the size of its app. Each app icon will have four available sizes. Users will be able to customize icons as per their likes. The company says these small changes make a big difference. On the desktop, there will be a pet on the home screen that performs some actions.

photon engine
With MIUI 14, Xiaomi has used an improved Photon Engine that has made deep improvements with third-party apps. It delves into the Linux kernel for optimization, and is jointly debugged with mainstream third-party applications one by one. The company claims that the Photon Engine in MIUI 14 increases fluency by 88% and reduces power consumption by 16%.
Family service jobs
MIUI 14 introduces new Family Service functions. Up to 9 people from the same family are now allowed to share services with their loved ones. It has shared cloud space where gold and above members can share cloud space with independent data. It also has a shared photo album that collects family memories and can be set as a screensaver.

MIUI 14 update schedule
As of now, Xiaomi has only revealed the timeline for which devices will receive the update in the first phase. The phones mentioned below will receive the MIUI update from January 2023. On the other hand, Xiaomi tablets will start receiving the MIUI 14 update from April 2023. The update schedule for India is still unknown at the moment.
