If you own a Motorola device, the wait for Android 13 won’t be too long.
Android 13, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, has been available for almost 4 months now. Aside from eligible Google Pixel smartphones, the stable version has already been rolled out to devices from Samsung, OnePlus, Sony, and more. While Motorola’s handling of Android is pretty light, the company hasn’t been as quick as others when it comes to rolling out updates, and now we’re getting official confirmation about when some Motorola devices will get the latest version of Android OS.
As you might expect, current flagship smartphones from Motorola, such as the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and Motorola Edge 30 Pro, are eligible to get the Android 13 experience. Owners of other Motorola devices, such as the Moto G lineup and older phones, are likely to be. For a while longer, though. We don’t know exactly how long the wait will be, as the expected launch is “early 2023” onwards, which indicates that the update should start sometime in the first half of next year.
The full list of Motorola devices that will be updated is as follows:
A few popular devices like the Moto G71 are notably left out of the list, which understandably will be frustrating for users of these phones. We hope more Motorola phones get a taste of Android 13 in the coming days and this is just a preliminary list.
Thanks to Motorola’s stance on unlocking the bootloader and kernel source release, it’s possible to install Android 13 unofficially via custom ROMs on the majority of Moto phones. With that said, nothing beats an official update for most people.
