Apple has launched self-service repair in Europe
Customers in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom can purchase genuine Apple parts and tools
Apple today announced the availability of Self Service Repair in eight European countries, providing repair manuals, original Apple parts and tools through the Apple Self Service Repair Store. Customers who want to complete their repairs will be able to perform many of the most common repairs for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups and Mac mobile devices with Apple silicon.
This self-service repair shop provides access to over 200 individual parts and tools, as well as repair manuals. The program gives customers experienced in the intricacies of electronic device repair the opportunity to complete their own repairs, using the same manuals, parts, and tools as Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Service Providers.
“We believe the best technology for our customers and the planet is technology that lasts, and that’s why we design our products to be durable and rarely require maintenance or repair,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “But when repair is required, we want customers to have many options for safe, reliable, and secure repair. That’s why we’re excited to launch Self-Service Repair in Europe, giving our customers direct access to genuine Apple parts, tools, and manuals.”
Every genuine Apple part for every product is designed and engineered, and undergoes extensive testing to ensure the highest levels of quality, safety and reliability. Parts are the same – at the same price – as those available from Apple’s network of authorized repair providers. Customers can send replaced parts back to Apple for refurbishment and recycling, and in many cases receive credit on their purchases by doing so.
The Apple tools available to customers at a self-service repair shop are specifically designed to help provide the best repairs for Apple products and are built to withstand the rigors of high-volume professional repairs where safety and reliability are the top priority. High-quality tools offered through self-service repair include torque drivers, repair trays, display and battery presses, and more.
Apple will offer tool rental kits for $49, so customers who don’t want to buy tools for a single repair can still access these professional repair tools. One week rental kits will be shipped to customers free of charge.
Self-service repair is part of Apple’s efforts to expand access to repairs and increase repairability of products over time. For the vast majority of customers who have no electronics repair experience, visiting a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair.
Over the past three years, Apple has nearly doubled the number of service locations with access to Genuine Apple parts, tools, and training, including more than 4,000 independent repair providers. The global network of more than 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers supports more than 100,000 active technicians. As a result, eight out of 10 Apple customers are within 30 minutes of an authorized service provider across Europe.
