Qualcomm has unveiled its new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will be part of several flagship smartphones that will be launched towards the end of 2022 and throughout 2023. The chip maker claimed that its new Snapdragon Mobile SoC will deliver it. Up to 35 percent higher performance and 40 percent more energy efficiency. The US-based company has confirmed that many smartphone brands will use the SoC in their flagship phones.
Shortly after Qualcomm released the details, some smartphone companies confirmed the launch of phones with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The list includes the likes of Motorola, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, OnePlus, etc. Let’s take a look at the list of confirmed or rumored phones to launch with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC: Which phones will get the flagship processor?
Qualcomm has revealed that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform will be adopted by OEMs and global brands including ASUS, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, Redmi, SHARP, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, MEIZU and ZTE.
The following phones are confirmed to feature the new Snapdragon SoC
Motorola Moto X40
Motorola has confirmed that its upcoming flagship phone, the Moto X40, will feature the new Snapdragon 8 series. The flagship smartphone is expected to be launched in China later this year. Motorola is also likely to launch the phone in India and other markets as Edge 40 Pro.
Some details about the X40 have leaked. The phone is likely to sport a triple camera setup on the back. It will have a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera. There will be a 60MP front camera. The phone is also said to have a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. There will be 68W fast charging support for the 5,000mAh battery. We can also expect the X40 to run Android 13 out of the box.
OnePlus 11 5G
It has been officially confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 11 5G will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The company didn’t reveal any other details but the rumor mill has worked hard enough to spill some grain.
The OnePlus 11 Pro, which was rumored to be launched in January 2023, could debut as the OnePlus 11. Leaked design renders in the past reveal that the OnePlus flagship will feature a triple-camera setup and an LED flash inside the circular camera module that blends into the frame. .
The phone is rumored to have a new 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera sensor along with a 48MP camera and a 32MP telephoto camera. There will be a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone is also said to pack a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support out of the box.
Vivo X90 Pro + 5G
Vivo X90 Pro + 5G could be the first smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The device will be launched on November 22 event in China. The Geekbench listing revealed that the Vivo X90 Pro + 5G draws power from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The listing also revealed that the phone will pack 12GB of RAM under the hood. There will be up to 512GB of internal storage on offer.
Other leaked details include a quad-camera setup on the back with a 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 sensor. The company has confirmed that the phones will feature a 50MP Sony IMX758 image sensor with Zeiss optics. There will be a 48MP camera and a 64MP telephoto camera as well, according to the rumor mill. The device will feature a 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. Vivo will also feature a new dedicated ISP V2 processor, which is claimed to boost camera performance in low-light and portrait mode. The phone will pack a 4,800mAh battery with 100W fast charging support out of the box.
Xiaomi series 13
The Xiaomi 13 series, namely the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are likely to come equipped with the new flagship Snapdragon. Xiaomi, without revealing the name, confirmed that its upcoming flagship series will feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC.
The 13 Pro will have premium specifications, such as a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will come with a 50MP Sony IMX989 main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera. The phone is also said to have a 32MP front camera. It will carry a 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging along with 50W wireless charging.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 13 5G will be a flagship with a 6.2-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone is likely to pack a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. It is also likely to feature a 50MP triple camera setup on the back.
Both the devices are likely to be launched in December 2022. The Xiaomi 13 series could be launched in India in the first quarter of 2023.
OPPO Find X6 Pro
OPPO has also confirmed that its next Find X-series phone will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The rumor mill claims that the Find X6 Pro will get Qualcomm’s new SoC. It will likely pack a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging support. The device is also said to have a 6.7-inch E6 OLED display with a 2K resolution and support for a 120Hz refresh rate. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front camera. The Find X6 Pro is said to feature a triple camera setup on the back with a 50MP Sony IMX989 main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera.
iQOO Series 11
Both iQOO 11 series phones, iQOO 11 and 11 Pro, are said to come with the latest SoC from Qualcomm. The company, without disclosing the names, confirmed the launch of its flagship phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
It is rumored that the iQOO 11 series will launch in India in January 2023. The 11 Pro 5G will feature a 6.78-inch E6 AMOLED display with support for 120Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution. It could feature a triple camera setup on the back with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 14.6MP telephoto camera. For selfies, the phone will come with a 16MP front camera. iQOO is said to feature Vivo V2 ISP as well. The device is said to pack a 4,700mAh battery with support for 200W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
iQOO 11 is likely to feature a 6.78-inch Full HD+ display with 144Hz refresh rate. It will have a triple camera setup with a 50MP Samsung GN5 main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera. The device is likely to pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging.
Samsung Galaxy S23 series
Samsung is expected to announce the S23 series in January 2023. While the company has not confirmed the news, Qualcomm has confirmed that all Galaxy S23 series launched globally will feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
The Galaxy S23 series will include three devices. The Galaxy S23 5G will sit at the bottom with a 6.1-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 50MP triple camera setup, a 3,900mAh battery with 25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging support, and a 32MP front camera.
The Galaxy S23 Plus will feature a 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will share the same camera specifications as the vanilla S23. It will pack a 4,700mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will get a new 200MP Samsung HP3 sensor. It will have a 12MP ultrawide camera and two 10MP telephoto camera sensors with up to 100x digital zoom. Qualcomm has confirmed that Samsung ISOCELL HP3, its first 200MP image sensor, is also optimized for Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. So, we can expect Samsung to launch S23 Ultra with a 200MP HP3 sensor.
The Ultra is said to feature a 32MP front camera inside the punch-hole cutout. At the front, there will be a 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. The phone will pack a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support and 15W wireless charging support. It will run OneUI 5.0 based on Android 13 out of the box.
ASUS Zenfone and ROG phones
ASUS has confirmed that its upcoming Zenfone flagship series will get the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Zenfone 10 is likely to be a compact flagship offering. However, details about the same are scarce at the moment.
The ROG 7 series flagship could also have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The company is likely to launch two different series, ROG Phone 7 and 7 Pro could have the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The ROG Phone 7D series could get the new MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 SoC. None of the details about the phones have been officially confirmed.
Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro
Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro could be the next gaming phone from the company that will be launched in select markets globally with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The company said that it will launch the world’s first gaming smartphone based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will set “a new standard for gaming performance.”
Nubia Z50 Pro
Nubia Z50 Pro is another flagship phone that is expected to be launched in early 2023 with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It is likely to be launched in February 2023. The specifications of the device are under wraps.
ZTE Axon 50 series
ZTE has also confirmed that its upcoming flagship phones, most likely the Axon 50 series, will get the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Unfortunately, details about the phone’s specifications are not known at the moment.
Realme GT 5 series
Realme is likely to launch its flagship phones with the new Snapdragon SoC as well. The GT 5 Pro could feature the flagship Snapdragon chipset. Realme has not confirmed any details about the same but we can expect to drop more information soon.
