Apple Music launches a new playback experience; Reveals the leaderboards for 2022
Starting today, Apple Music subscribers can learn about the best songs, artists, albums, genres, and more in a redesigned experience. 2022 has been an exciting year in music, with listeners immersed in new sounds, new languages, and new genres more than ever before. In addition, the 2022 year-end charts show how influential Apple Music listeners have been in making 2022 a memorable year, both individually and as a community.

Redesigned Apple Music Replay
New for 2022 is a year-end experience complete with expanded listening insights and new functionality, including a fully customized highlight reel. Users can discover their top songs, top albums, top artists, genres, and more. Super fans can discover if they are in the top 100 listeners of their favorite artist or genre.
Apple Music listeners can continue to check Replay until December 31 to see if their listening patterns have evolved before the start of 2023. Once the new year rolls around, keep listening to Apple Music to explore and share new insights for 2023 every week.
All insights on Replay are optimized for sharing with family and friends, on their social channels, or on any messaging platform.
How does Apple Music Replay work?
Visit replay.music.apple.com and sign in with the same Apple ID used for Apple Music. Turn on the highlights or scroll through the page for more detailed insights. A truncated version of the site is available throughout the year or once the user becomes eligible.1
How do you see listening stats
- Listen to enough music to qualify. Qualification measurement with custom progress bar on Replay website. Both playlist eligibility and insights occur to the same extent as listening.
- Once a user is eligible for Replay, they can visit replay.music.apple.com.
- Explore listening stats, listen on the site, and get involved.
Replay has been translated into 39 languages for all 169 countries and regions where Apple Music is available.
Restart Apple Music and Privacy
Despite the focus on data, Replay maintains standard Apple privacy throughout the experience. Individual user insights are never shared, sold, or used in any marketing materials. The user can share their thoughts at their own discretion if they choose. No other Apple Music subscribers or employees can access their insights outside of Selected Snaps at any time.
Top charts insights
Apple Music also revealed its year-end charts, highlighting the best songs of 2022, top Shazams, top fitness songs, and most read songs. Diving into the rankings, music buffs will notice the growing presence of non-English hits, the emergence of once-niche genres, and a number of great artists entering the spotlight for the first time.
The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber finished the year at #1 on the best songs of 2022 with their collaboration “STAY.” Released in the summer of 2021, “STAY” spent an amazing 51 days atop the Daily Top 100: Global and has remained steady well into 2022. “STAY” hasn’t dropped out of the Daily Top 100: Global since its release, and has reached #1 on the list of the best 100 locations per day in 69 countries and regions around the world.
Hip-hop continued to top the charts, making 32 of the year’s top 100 songs. Pop followed, with 23 hits on the chart, followed by R&B/Soul, with 11 hits. Latin came in fourth place with eight songs, followed by J-pop with six songs.
Things looked markedly different on the Most Popular Songs chart, led by “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the top spot on the Disney soundtrack. Charm. The lyrics chart is among the most international, with 29 songs out of 100 in a language other than English.
Meanwhile, British DJ Joel Corey’s “Head & Heart (feat. MNEK) tops the Fitness Songs chart, which ranks the top songs on Apple Fitness+ playlists and Apple Music fitness playlists. “Head & Heart” has reached Daily top 100 list in 53 countries and regions around the world, including 12 countries where it reached the top 20.
Shazam topped the chart with “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” by Elton John and Dua Lipa, which marked the first time Elton John topped the global Shazam chart. The track charted at number one in 17 national charts – a record for both singers – and both reached number one in the UK for the first time. Top 5 hits were The Glass Animals’ “Heatwaves”, Harry Styles’ “As It Was”, Farruko’s “Babypas” and Akraz’s “Do It For Her (feat. Cherish)”.
Elsewhere, Bad Bunny — Apple Music’s 2022 Artist of the Year — becomes the first Latin artist to have the biggest album of the year with summer without you. Just four months after its record-breaking release, summer without you It has already become the biggest Latin album of all time by lifetime streams.
