Zenith celebrates the final race of the 2022 Extreme E season in style.
Earlier this year, the Swiss watchmaker announced a new series with the Electric Vehicle Racing Association. Each model reflects the duo’s shared desire for a cleaner, more sustainable future by incorporating recycled and recycled materials wherever possible. The latest addition was made in honor of the finale of the Extreme E Championship held over the weekend in Punta del Este, Uruguay. As you might expect, the newcomer is equal parts sustainable and elegant.

Like its predecessors, Energy X Brix is built on Zenith’s Defy. This time, however, the watch displays a gorgeous purple palette meant to evoke streaks of lightning in the stormy Uruguayan sky. The South American country is strongly committed to renewable energy with more than 98 percent of its electricity being generated from renewable sources, such as wind power and hydropower. As a result, it was the perfect backdrop for the final race and a suitable inspiration for the fourth hour in the series.
With sustainability and environmental awareness at the forefront, the Energy X Prix features a number of eco-friendly items. For example, the purple rubber band includes bits of recycled Continental CrossContact tires that were used in the first season. Green accents extend to the packaging. The canister lid coating is made from recycled E-grip tires from last year’s racing, while the fender flare is made from Extreme E Racing tarpaulin parts.
Of course, the Energy X Prix still offers everything you know and love from Zenith’s Defy. Made of carbon fiber, this watch is lightweight and strong. It features an open layered dial with sapphire crystal elements in the same shade of purple as the recycled bracelet. It is also powered by Zenith’s El Primero caliber 9004 – the fastest chronograph movement on the market – with time measurements at 1/100th of a second.
Defy Extreme E Energy X Prix is available in a limited run of 20 only. You can snap it up for $271,000 exclusively at Zenith stores or online by visiting the Zenith website.
