Xiaomi will officially launch its next flagship smartphone series – Xiaomi 13 in China. Along with announcing the new devices, the company will also be taking the wraps off the next version of the MIUI 14 custom operating system.
The Xiaomi 13 series of smartphones is expected to ship with the new MIUI 14 operating system based on Android 13 OS. Likewise, a lot of Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones are likely to update to MIUI 14 in the coming days.
What do you expect from MIUI 14
As mentioned earlier, MIUI 14 is Xiaomi’s custom OS based on Android 13. The latest version of MIUI is said to bring a lot of new changes when compared to the current MIUI 13 update.
While the company did not reveal the exact set of features that MIUI 14 might offer, it did hint that the operating system will be lighter than its predecessor and thus, is expected to pack less bloatware and is likely to offer a simplified user experience.
Xiaomi is also expected to remove ads within the user interface to make it fast, and we can also expect to see new customizable options like the ones we saw on iOS 16 and OneUI 5. Older Xiaomi phones may also receive a forked version of MIUI 14 based on Android 12 or even Android 11. However, the user interface is expected to remain unified on all Xiaomi smartphones running on MIUI 14 OS.
MIUI 14: Supported devices
All Xiaomi smartphones currently running MIUI 13 update based on Android 12 will likely be eligible for MIUI 14 updates. Coming to India, devices like Xiaomi 12 Pro, Redmi K50i 5G, Poco F4 5G, and Redmi Note 11 are likely to be eligible. Pro + is the first group of smartphones that will receive the MIUI 14 update, possibly in the first quarter of 2023.
