Huawei is once again at the forefront of the Chinese market with its fourth-generation foldable smartphones. The company achieved 53.2 percent market share and became the number one foldable manufacturer in China.
Recently, CINNO research cooperation released the “Q3 2022 China Folding Market Share” report. Accordingly, the report shows the performance of the technology makers and their foldable devices in the region.
Finally, sales of foldable devices in China reached 723,000 units in the third quarter of this year. This is a valuable growth of approximately 114% year-on-year. Further, the report presents Huawei’s success which is more interesting on the surface.
Despite the variety of foldable phones with 5G facilities, Huawei scored first place in the Chinese foldable phone market with 4G models. This achievement made Huawei the absolute king of foldable phones in China.
Huawei – the champion in the foldable phone market
The latest entry reveals that Huawei captured 53.2% market share for its foldable devices, which is up 95% year-on-year. Alongside Huawei, Samsung is in second place with 20.5%.
Notably, the Huawei P50 Pocket is the flagship foldable device in the Chinese market. And it has remained ahead of the market with impressive sales results for three consecutive quarters (Q1 to Q3, this year).
In addition to the flip-flop model, the Mate Xs 2 also performed well in the sales aspects. Specifically, Huawei has proven that the company will continue to excel in the smartphone market, with or without 5G.
Huawei Pocket S – a new competitor
While Huawei’s old 4G foldable devices are already offering tough competition to the tech-makers, the company has introduced another gadget – the Pocket S. The phone is a cheaper version of the P50 Pocket without any compromise in features.
Undoubtedly, the new foldable phone will greatly increase the demand for foldable phones in the market. With its great looks and eye-catching features, it will soon rule the Chinese phone market.
Speaking of 5G implementation, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group and President of Smart Car BG, said the following statement:
“Huawei, as a global leader in 5G, is the only manufacturer selling 4G mobile phones in the 5G era.”
Although the CEO said the statement sarcastically, it’s a bitter truth somewhere. But it seems that the lack of 5G networks does not affect much of the company’s success. However, users are still waiting to get the Huawei 5G smartphone back in their hands.
