Big step for the brand, giant step for the Indian gaming scene

Cosmic Byte Kronos aren’t the first set of headphones I’ve used, and they won’t be the last. However, I’ve rarely been impressed with a single piece of gaming gear. It is not just a matter of pride for me as a user, but one also has to take into account the fact that the latest gadget comes from an Indian company.

Like I said, there is no shortage of options in terms of listening devices. My current list ranges from budget models to the best Sony and Skull Candy have to offer in terms of premium solutions. However, the Cosmic Byte Kronos is unique and hard to replace with any other device I own. Suffice it to say, this is based on how it looks, feels, and performs, which is the real domain of control.

Cosmic Byte Kronos punches well above its weight and could very well be the next trendsetter in the Indian gaming market

There are different aspects to a headset, especially when gaming is its primary focus. The Indian market is filled with international offerings so far, but Cosmic Byte Kronos is here to give others a tough fight. In certain areas, the wireless device has already won the battle over its more expensive contemporaries.

Packaging is an important aspect of any product, but Cosmic Byte seems to have taken it to another level. While boxing is standard, the headphones come in a very sturdy egg-shaped case. All accessories and manual are also included in the box, which is the perfect choice for protection when traveling.

Cosmic Byte Kronos’ design can be aptly described in one word – elegant. It is mainly black with a tinge of orange on the inside. There is no RGB, but there is yellow light visible on both sides, which looks very polished. RGB fanatics may be disappointed, but the design fit my requirements perfectly. Apart from good looks, the product delivers in terms of build quality.

A healthy mix of metal, plastic, and faux leather combine to complement the headset. The base headband is made of pure metal, which increases the durability of the product. There is no chance of fracture unless there is excessive pressure from a certain point. Both earcups are very well padded, and despite having larger-than-average ears, the cushions fit just right.

The microphone has a flexible cable that needs to be pulled out. It is very easy to move and adjust the microphone. The ear drivers on each side are connected with separate cables and are durable. Overall, the structure is very durable and should stand the test of time.

sound and performance

Now comes the big part – what does Cosmic Byte Kronos sound like? The USP of the device is that it offers a Dolby Atmos 7.1 experience, and I had to use it on a PC to get its full flavor. To enable the feature, you’ll need to have one of them — the app provided by Cosmic Byte, or the Dolby Atmos app. I chose the former, and the experience was great.

The 50mm drivers start perfectly during all kinds of performances, but the real fun starts from the games and music. From every bullet to the notes of Beethoven’s symphonies, Cosmic Byte Kronos captures it all so well. It should be noted that there is no noise cancellation feature on the device. However, the perfect fit of the earcups ensures that very little outside noise is heard.

Cosmic Byte Kronos can also be used with Aux cables, but there is a significant drop in performance. In some cases, such as using it on Xbox or mobile, you will have to use the cable and understand the difference quite clearly. This issue arises due to an accessibility limitation that I’m not very fond of.

One big plus is the battery, which lasts a very long time. This ensures that the device is perfect for long streaming and gaming sessions. What adds to the performance is the quality of the microphone. It comes with ENC and works as expected. I tested it on Discord and push-talk in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. There’s no latency, little to no consistent connection.

For whatever reason, the Cosmic Byte Kronos don’t pair like typical Bluetooth headphones. Instead, you will have to use the dongle that came with it, and your headphones will connect to the dongle. The official description states that the device is compatible with mobile phones and consoles and that it delivers on its promises. However, use on non-PC devices is limited in terms of connectivity and features.

However, the Bluetooth connection works flawlessly, and there are no lags. Thanks to the dongle, it works in a plug and play manner, and all a person needs to do is insert the dongle and turn on the headphones. This makes it ideal for all users.

Cosmic Byte Kronos has the potential to challenge the space that has been dominated by international players. It delivers an excellent audio experience with the support of Dolby Atmos 7.1. Whether I’m gaming or listening to music, the clarity and depth of sound bring this device to life.

There are very few fingers to point when analyzing an item. It is well made, stylish and comfortable to wear. The long battery life provides a wireless experience over long sessions, and is not burdensome on the ears.

Had there been the ability to connect directly to Bluetooth for consoles and mobile phones, the Cosmic Byte Kronos might be the best audio option in its price range.
