Huawei Brand New 1

The United States has banned new equipment made by Huawei

Huawei’s patents have become a big reason why China’s progress in the patent world has grown. In the latest release, China ranked first in the growth rate of patent applications in the world for 2021, and the great credit for this achievement goes to Huawei.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) recently published a report on the growth of intellectual patent applications in the world in 2021.

In the end, the report highlights a good dozen global patents. To date, 3.4 million patents have been filed worldwide. Compared to 2020, the global patent growth rate increased by 3.6%.

But the interesting part is China’s ranking. The information reveals that China has 1.59 million patent applications which is the highest number in the global patent list. Besides, the region has achieved great success in all categories of intellectual property.

For example: patents, trademarks, industrial designs and plant varieties. The report also counts patents that are valid around the world. Here too, China comes out with flying colors and has 3.6 million authorized patents.

This is much more than the US which has a total of 590,000 patents. Next, the patent growth rate list shows the following countries:

  • China – 1.59 million patents
  • United States – 591,473 patents
  • Japan – 289,200 patents
  • Republic of Korea – 237,998 patents
  • European Patent Office – 188,778 patents

Although the list includes 10 countries, these top 5 countries have supported and built infrastructure in Asia in a much better way. Eventually, the aforementioned areas also brought about a development in the concepts of commercial and industrial planning.

Huawei – the main reason for the success of China!

While China ranked first in its name, Huawei also topped the number of Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) patent applications for the following five years. The company has more than 110,000 authorized patents and more than 60,000 PCT patents.

Even after the COVID-19 pandemic and US restrictions, Huawei continues to constantly reach new heights. It is Huawei and its patent applications that have China significantly overtaking the US region in the 2021 Global Patent Growth Report.

In addition, Huawei’s patents have also served in the cellular sector. From innovative mechanisms to new functions, the company has issued and enforced various patents on its devices.

Currently, about 2 billion devices use Huawei’s 4G and 5G patents. Besides, 8 million smart cars driven by Huawei patents and operating systems are exported every year. Huawei’s legal director – Song Liuping expressed his thoughts:

“In the past three years, Huawei has faced a harsh external environment. The more difficult this period, the more it will test Huawei’s determination to invest in the future.”

Patent growth will continue

WIPO Director General Daren Tang said that patent registration will continue to grow in the future as well. The latest results show that users and manufacturers around the world will continue to innovate and create new products despite the pandemic scenarios.
