Nagpur: Nagpur city police said on Thursday that 18-year-old Priyanshu Kshatriya, who played a prominent role in Amitabh Bachchan’s superstar film ‘Gond’, has been arrested for alleged theft.
A police official said that Pradeep Mundawi (64), a resident of Mankapur district, had filed a complaint about the theft of jewelry and money worth Rs 5,000 from his house. The official said the police had arrested a minor suspect who revealed Khatriyeh’s alleged involvement in the crime and the latter was arrested on Tuesday.
The official said he appeared before a court, which ordered that he be held in pretrial detention until November 25. The items stolen from a pigeon box were found in Jadegudam district. The area, by the way, features in “Jhund” directed by Nagraj Manjule.
The critically acclaimed Hindi-language film is based on the life of Vijay Pars, a former sports teacher who introduces slum kids to football in order to keep them away from crime and addiction.
The police official said Kshatriya was arrested earlier on charges of stealing mobile phones from train passengers.
