Today’s smartphones come with some clever imaging technology, allowing you to take night mode photos and even some long exposures without using a tripod.
There are still times when you may need a tripod for your smartphone. With that being said, we wanted to know if you already own a tripod for your phone. You can give us your answer by voting in the poll below.
Do you own a tripod for your smartphone?
There are several reasons for mounting your phone on a tripod. First, astrophotography and astrophotography modes require this option. You may also want to use a tripod to reduce blur when shooting at night, or when using dedicated long exposure/light painting modes. The tripod is also useful for group shots or for keeping your phone as simple as possible for recording videos.
Then again, most phones offer high-quality night shots that are just fine when held handheld. We’ve also seen devices like the Pixel series that offer long exposure/motion mode effects without the need for a tripod. So a portable tripod doesn’t seem a necessity in most situations.
