Best Xiaomi Phone 2022: Which Xiaomi Smartphone Is Right For You?

Whether it’s a budget buy or something more premium, Xiaomi has been producing amazing smartphones with fast speeds and excellent cameras for quite some time now.

UK consumers are also spoiled for choice. There are the more affordable Redmi models and the equally budget Poco line; smartphones designed for gamers under the Black Shark name; Or those flagship devices that get the full Xiaomi brand. Whichever series suits you best, the majority of Xiaomi devices are cheaper than competing Samsung or Apple phones, while offering a similar list of features and components.

This is despite the Chinese company flaunting innovative advancements in smartphone technology, including fast charging speeds and dual screens. Ranking only behind Samsung and Apple worldwide, and appearing in the top five in the UK, Xiaomi may very well be the modern smartphone brand – and it’s well worth taking a look at what it has to offer.

However, there are a lot of Xiaomi phones to beat, so choosing top-tier models can be a challenge — especially when paying more doesn’t always mean better value. To help you out, we’ve listed the best Xiaomi devices for a range of needs and budgets so you don’t have to search high and low to get the best results.

The best Xiaomi smartphones to buy

1. Xiaomi 12 Pro: The best Xiaomi smartphone

xiaomi 12 pro review 12

When it comes to smartphones, the pros, pros, and ultras of this world are usually the kings of quality, and for Xiaomi, this is no different. Dropping the “Mi” from its name after the 2021 Best Buy award-winning Xiaomi Mi 11, this latest Xiaomi version – the 12 Pro – also lowers dimensions in favor of improved specifications.

There’s a new 50MP telephoto zoom camera, a first for a Xiaomi flagship, and it’s complemented by another 50MP main lens and a 50MP 118-degree ultra-wide-angle module. On the front, you will find a vibrant AMOLED display with great color representation and brightness, while the internals deliver quite fast performance.

Another plus is that the Xiaomi 12 Pro’s fast charging speeds will take you from zero to 100% in less than 30 minutes. The only downside, of course, is that high quality often means an equally high price and, unfortunately, Xiaomi 12 Pro does not deviate from the norm. But if only the best from Xiaomi is the best, there is no alternative to the 12 Pro.

2. Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G: The best Xiaomi smartphone under £300

The Redmi Note 10 Pro was one of our favorite value phones of 2021, so we had high hopes that it would be a good follow up. Fortunately, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G offers the same great value for money, as well as some new features at a significantly similar cost.

There’s an improved Snapdragon 695 processor, faster 67W charging and 5G connectivity as well as a high-quality quad-camera array – featuring a massive 108MP main sensor – and a very smooth 120Hz screen.

As a package, the Note 11 Pro isn’t a huge advance on the Note 10 Pro, which means you can save a bit more if these extras don’t bother you. However, we’d recommend paying that much more for the newer model — especially for 5G connectivity — to extend the life of your next smartphone in return.

xiaomi redmi note 11 review 6

It might seem like every smartphone costs more than four figures these days, but you can still get great phones for less, with the Redmi Note 11 one of them.

Thanks to the fast Snapdragon 680 processor, this Xiaomi device with its low price tag beats the phones that are much more expensive in its price range. Not only that, but on the front of the phone, you will find an impressive 6.43-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a quad-camera array on the back. It’s so good for the price that we’ve made it our favorite budget smartphone of any brand: if that’s not a good endorsement, I don’t know what is.

4. Xiaomi 12 Lite: The best mid-range Xiaomi phone

price: £389 | Buy now from Xiaomi

Our pick from the mid-price category of smartphones is the Xiaomi 12 Lite. It has fast 67W charging plus a beautifully smooth, 120Hz color-accurate display and a Snapdragon 778G processor — a chipset that absolutely outlasted the competition in our review.

Overall, you get a lot for your money here, especially if you’re after the Xiaomi flagship but don’t have the funds to splurge on the Xiaomi 12 listed above. You won’t compromise on features, with the added bonus of saving you a lot of cash.

Xiaomi Poco F4: The best Xiaomi phone

price: From £379 | Buy now from Amazon

best xiaomi phone poco f4

While all of the entries on this list offer an impressive amount of functionality at their own prices, none strike an attractive balance between cost and features like the Poco F4. Improvements to the Poco F3 include support for Dolby Vision, allowing for better quality streaming, a more powerful 64MP main camera and 67W fast charging that fills the battery in about 38 minutes.

All of this is wrapped in a stylish package with a smooth 120Hz AMOLED screen and is powered by a chip that is capable of competing with some very expensive phones. The secondary cameras are nothing special, and the glass back is a fingerprint magnet, but otherwise, there’s very little to dislike about this exceptional deal for a phone.
