Motorola has started promoting the Moto X40 as an upcoming flagship Android smartphone that will be upgraded to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform. The device – which is likely to be launched as Edge 40 Pro for the international market – is now underpinned as an all-around performance thanks to a new silicone with distinctive deep curves as a key design cue.

The Moto ‘Edge X40’ has been officially renamed to the faster-paced Moto X40, according to new official teasers. Its predecessor was the world’s leading Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Android smartphone thanks to its late 2021 debut in the Chinese market. Now, it looks like Motorola is rushing to do the same with its official second-gen successor.

Despite dropping the edge in the Chinese market, as the X30 Pro did before it, the crisp curvature that inspired the X40’s original series name is definitely still there, as evidenced by the cool new rear panel teaser. According to device leaks, they also apply to a potential high-end AMOLED screen, not to mention more than one mysterious iPhone-esque camera hump.

Motorola now also confirms that the Moto X40 will offer “A comprehensive experienceas a flagship with its newly confirmed processor upgrade. And again, the company is yet to reveal whether or not it can once again beat potential competitors like Xiaomi 13 Pro or OnePlus 11 to launch.
