OPPO Reno9 series debuted as first mid-range Android smartphones with 16GB RAM options

OPPO has now confirmed a slew of leaks and rumors pointing to new additions to the Reno line of Android smartphones before the end of 2022. Variants of the 9, 9 Pro and Pro + are already on the way, with triple rear cameras only on the latter.

Their predecessors had reasonably distinct features for their market segment such as year-round AMOLED screens; However, the OEM has indicated that it will push its appeal to a higher end in this generation.

The OEM has yet to hint at any upgrades found in the smartphone’s updated rear camera humps, though it’s clear that the Reno9 Pro and Pro+ will be MariSilicon X-Enhanced mobile shooters, while the Vanilla 9 will not.

Then again, OPPO revealed what might be one of the more interesting new Reno9 upgrades: the 9 will apparently start with 8GB of RAM, while the Pro and Pro+ will apparently ramp up to double that amount.

That spec, usually reserved for really high-end devices (unless it’s due to memory reallocation in software that the 9 is somewhat unproprietary to, of course) is pegged to the 67 Watts (W) charging in the 9 Pro.

The Reno9 gets a share in this update, while the 9 Pro+ supports OPPO’s faster SuperVOOC 80W technology.

OPPO is set to reveal the full specifications, features and pricing of the Reno9 series on November 24, 2022.
