OnePlus, Motorola and Samsung prepare for a new launch to boost smartphone sales

The next few weeks will be busy in the mobile world, with three of the largest smartphone operators holding product launches in August. OnePlus, Motorola, and Samsung are all hosting big events in August, with their big smartphone announcements coming out ahead of the upcoming holiday season. Despite fears of a recession and slowing economic growth, tech companies are on track to launch new smartphones amid slumping consumer spending. Smartphone sales have already declined globally in 2022, and analysts expect this trend to continue for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, we have some information on what we can expect from OnePlus, Motorola, and Samsung based on rumors, leaks, and reports.

Motorola, Lenovo, will start things off August 2 With the launch event in China. It seems reasonable to expect the Razr foldable smartphone to appear a long time ago. Previous versions of the Razr foldable smartphone were commercial failures due to poor performance and questionable build quality. The all-new Razr is said to be a revamped device with a chin-free design, larger display and dual rear cameras. Expect the 2022 version of the Motorola Razr to reach the Chinese smartphone market first, followed by other regions including India. Will the new Razr be priced under $1,000? Only time will prove it.

The new Edge 30 Ultra also comes along with a modified Razr smartphone. It will be the first smartphone to use Samsung’s new 200MP camera sensor along with a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP 2x telephoto camera. The device will be a high-end phone with a 6.67-inch curved touchscreen display with a frequency of 144Hz P-OLED and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.

Just a day after Motorola plans to launch new smartphones in China, OnePlus will launch a new phone at an in-person event in New York on August 3. It will be called OnePlus 10T, and the device will have a design similar to the 10 Pro but won’t have the alert slider and the Hasselblad branding. The phone will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Things looked a bit different since OnePlus merged with Oppo. However, OnePlus still has a loyal fan base willing to pay a higher price for its flagship smartphones.

Samsung’s “Unpacked” event on August 10 will be the biggest launch of the second half of 2022. We already know that we will get two new foldable phones, and we also know that Samsung is preparing to launch at least two smartwatch models. The foldable phones – the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 – are said to be incremental updates over the last generation. While the Flip 4 will be a clamshell-style foldable phone, the Fold 4 will open like a book. As before, both smartphones with the foldable phone factor will be on the premium side. With the exception of some cosmetic changes, the new phones will be enhanced from the inside and will have improved camera systems.

But what will come next? The Galaxy Watch 5 seems to be a reasonable guess. But what’s making headlines online is the rumored “Pro” version of the Watch 5 which many believe will have a titanium coating and sapphire glass build. The watch will be resistant to bumps, shocks, and scratches while maintaining a premium look. Regarding the battery, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is supposed to have a battery life of 3 days.

Samsung is holding its product launch event exactly a month before Apple launches its new iPhone 14 models in September. Unpacked 2022 will be streamed via Samsung’s YouTube channel, where you can also get updates about the event.
