Workers responsible for Samsung mobile phone delivery get recognition from unions

Unite secured union rights for 120 workers at Yusen Logistics in Wellingborough.

The campaign started in January of this year and within a few months the union membership had grown from almost no members to 90 percent membership.

“Unite” said Sharon Graham, Secretary-General.: “In just a few months the workers responsible for the delivery of Samsung Phones and tablets across the UK have joined Unite in droves. It’s a testament to Unite’s reputation as a union that wins jobs, wages, and terms.

Despite clear evidence of workers’ desire to create a union, the resistant employer insisted on a workplace ballot that Unite won with 97 percent of workers supporting Unite’s recognition. The union has now signed a recognition agreement and is in the process of electing union representatives.

Warehouse workers and on-site team leaders provide warehouse and distribution services for Samsung’s subsequent deliveries, including the delivery of Galaxy mobile phones.

“Unite,” said Sean Keitel, regional official.: “Resistant employer has not deterred workforce from supporting union recognition. Members and team of organizers at Unite have done a fantastic job Union building and votes casting.
