Police have arrested Deputy Superintendent (DSP) of Central Jail in Firozhipur for allegedly providing mobile phones, SIM cards and drugs to prison inmates including various gangsters, drug smugglers, terrorists and other criminals.

According to the information, the erroneous deputy superintendent identified as Gurcharan Singh Dhariwal was taking a large amount of money from the prison inmates to provide them with cell phones and other items. While Surinder Lamba SSP disclosed more details, Surinder Lamba SSP said Inspector Mohit Dhawan SHO City Police Station had received information that the erroneous DSP was providing prison inmates with cell phones and drugs in collusion with other prison officials.

SSP said that according to preliminary information, drugs, cell phones and other items were brought to the prison and then these items were made available to the notorious prison inmates with the help of other prison staff.

The erroneous prison official has been booked by the police under Sections 120-B IPC, Law 7/8 PC, Prison Ordinance 42 plus 23, 29 NDPS Law at the City Police Station (FIR No. 449 dated 10.11.2022). “We will take it to court and ask the police to postpone it today,” Mohit Dhawan SHO said.
