Second infringement lawsuit filed against TCL
JACKSONVILLE, FL / ACCESSWIRE / November 11, 2022 / ParkerVision, Inc. (OTCQB: PRKR) Today it announced that it has filed new complaints in the Western District of Texas against global Taiwanese semiconductor companies, MediaTek Incorporated (“MediaTek”) and Realtek Semiconductor Corp. (“Realtek”), due to infringement of four US patents. Complaints ask jury trials to determine, among other things, monetary damages for the unauthorized use of ParkerVision’s patented wireless technologies in semiconductor chips used in smartphones, WiFi and Bluetooth devices.
ParkerVision has ongoing proceedings in the Western District of Texas against Intel Corporation and TCL Electronics Holdings Co. Ltd. and its subsidiaries (“TCL”), LG Electronics, Inc. (“LGE”), including a second lawsuit filed against TCL on November 7, 2022 for infringement of two additional patents. So far, ParkerVision has settled proceedings against Japanese wireless network company Buffalo, Inc. , Taiwanese wireless network company Zyxel Communications Corporation, and most recently Chinese SmartTV company Hisense Co. Ltd. and its affiliates (“Hisense”) through patent licensing and settlement agreements.
Jeffrey Parker, CEO of ParkerVision, commented, “Both MediaTek and Realtek are global suppliers of wireless semiconductors that we believe are widely infringing on ParkerVision’s patented technologies. Both companies provide WiFi and Bluetooth chipsets worldwide.” Additionally, some have recently cited MediaTek as having the largest volume of smartphone chip shipments worldwide with expectations that MediaTek will overtake Qualcomm in unit size as a supplier of chips for smartphones sold in the United States.”
ParkerVision has invested hundreds of millions in research, development and marketing in its patented RF receiver, transmitter and RF power transmission technologies to enable ultra-small semiconductor chips to deliver high-performance RF wireless communications for mobile standards such as 3G, 4G and 5G standards, WiFi communications, Bluetooth, satellite communications and other wireless applications.
ParkerVision, Inc. Designs, develops and patents radio frequency (RF) technologies that enable advanced wireless solutions for current and next generation wireless communication products.
