Redmi A1 and A1+ officially launched in Nepal. After a period of inactivity, this is the latest Xiaomi in the Redmi sub-series. Xiaomi recently launched its first ever tablet in the Redmi series in Nepal, the Realme Pad.

Redmi A1 and A1+ are budget offerings from the company and one can only expect some basic settings from the phone. These phones differ in only one feature and the rest are identical. The phones offer a basic low-light screen and some moderate camera settings. Also, battery backup in phones isn’t something new that we haven’t seen before.

The Redmi A1 and A1+ share a similar design. Both phones come with a glass front, a plastic back, and a plastic frame. The phones have only a minimal design and nothing fancy to draw attention, the only thing that distinguishes the phones is the fingerprint sensor on the back of the Redmi A1+, which is missing in the Redmi A1. The phones have a textured back panel that resists fingerprint smudges.

The Redmi A1 and A1+ both weigh about 192 grams and are 9.1 mm thick. Users have options to choose from light blue, light green, and black colors.

On the front of the Redmi A1 and A1 + there is a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display that offers a resolution of 720 * 1600 pixels at a density of 269 ppi. Likewise, the screen can also achieve a typical brightness of 400 nits.

The Redmi A1 and A1+ both offer the same camera setup. On the front there is a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 lens slot while at the back there is an 8MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and a secondary QVGA sensor with 0.08MP resolution. The cameras can record 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.

The Redmi A1 and A1 + runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 12 (Go edition). The phones are powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset (12nm) while the graphical tasks are handled by the PowerVR GE8320.

Both phones have 32 GB of internal storage and 2 GB of RAM. However, the Redmi A1+ is also available with 3GB of RAM. Both phones offer users the option to expand storage space. Users can expand storage up to 1 TB using a microSD card. The Redmi A1 and A1 + also have a memory expansion feature with which the user can expand the RAM up to 2 GB.

The Redmi A1 is priced at Rs 11,999 for the 2/32GB variant while the Redmi A1+ is priced at Rs 12,499 for the 2/32GB variant and Rs 13,999 for the 3/32GB variant.
