Continental Tires announced Monday that it has launched a new line of tires for sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in the country. In a statement, the company said the new sixth-generation CrossContact AX6 all-terrain tires offer durability, low noise and a specially designed tread design for ultimate handling and performance on all terrain and wet road conditions.
“The CrossContact AX6 tires have been specifically designed keeping in mind the different conditions present on and off-road. The tires are highly suitable for markets like India, which are characterized by different geographies, road conditions and the increasing demand for SUVs,” Continental India doctor Samir Gupta stated.
He added that the new tires are a perfect fit for any driver who spends most of their time on the road but requires more traction when off the beaten track.
“Markets around the world have widely appreciated the CrossContact AX6 tires, and we hope to see similar results in India,” said Gupta.
Sales of SUVs in the domestic market have grown significantly in the past few years.
According to industry estimates, the share of SUV and crossover sales in total passenger car sales across India has grown to about 38 per cent in 2021 compared to just 8 per cent in 2001.
The shift in consumer preferences has increased the demand for high performance tires for SUV vehicles in India.
