Google has just released the November 2022 software update for its Pixel smartphones, with the main advantage being better battery life on the newer Pixel phones.
The 50MB download includes a number of fixes for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7. For the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a, there is a bug fix for an issue that caused increased power consumption while installing certain apps. Apps not mentioned, but this fix will likely improve battery life for the majority of owners.
For the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, there are “display power consumption optimizations to improve thermal performance under certain conditions,” as well as a workaround for an issue that could sometimes cause the green screen to flicker. For anyone who has experienced this, Google has also fixed the Photos app crash, which can occur when using certain editing features on Pixel 7 devices.
The update is now available and should be downloaded and installed automatically. You can go to Settings -> System -> System Update On your device to run it manually, but you will likely find the update is already in progress.
