Honor Magic5 Prestige Edition will be launched as the new flagship of the Wi-Fi 7 support Android smartphone series

Honor launched the Magic4 Ultimate Edition as the ultra-flagship version of its flagship 4 Pro smartphone in 2022. Now, it looks like it might be replaced or converted to a Prestige version in 2023 instead. According to The Factory Manager’s Classmate link, this name may reflect the fact that the new high-end Sony IMX989 sensor will be exclusive to this new high-end SKU.

It may be available in 1 12GB RAM/512GB configuration at 7999 Yuan (~$1111), which makes the Magic5 and 5 Pro start somewhat cheaper at 4999 (~$695) and 5999 Yuan (~$695) ~US$834) respectively, due to their 8GB options.

It is now said to be accompanied by up to 4 additional sensors in the supposed Ultra killer, one of which also has OIS. The Magic5 Pro may also have something, as its main camera may be based on the all-new Sony IMX878, with its own OIS to boot.

As for the vanilla Magic5, you may get the 70-series IMX800, as well as the IMX758 and Omnivision OV64B that it will share with the 5 Pro.

The newly leaked list of alleged new key specifications from Honor indicates that it intends to reverse trends and release premium smartphones with at least 4 rear-facing sensors in 2023; The entire Magic5 series is also said to be dedicated to “8x8dTOF” sensors, along with some new features called “Tab windows“.

The leaks also support Digital Chat Station’s assertions that the Magic5 series will launch with “Habit6.8-inch OLED display across the board; allegedly made by BOE with LTPO 1-120Hz technology, HDR10+ support, and possibly 1,100 nits of maximum brightness.

The Magic5 Series is also now supported to debut with a full suite of high-end hardware, including LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage – and Wi-Fi 7 support, which may be made possible by Qualcomm’s all-new platform.

The three premium devices tend to support both UFCS and fast charging speeds from previous leaks, with a 5,000mAh battery — albeit only for the vanilla variant.

All in all, Honor is now drawn as the defender of rivals like the Samsung Galaxy S23 or Xiaomi’s 13 lines of 2023 in earnest with the successors to the Magic4, 4 Pro and 4 Ultimate. Then again, they haven’t yet been paired with an official endorsement or release date yet.
