Another week, let’s recap. The MediaTek Dimensity 9200 flexed great muscle on AnTuTu and GFXBench, especially on the graphics front. It manages to outperform all current chipsets, including the Apple A16 Bionic, although cross-platform comparisons are rarely a great idea.
Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 12 series just last week, and the first sale was great. The four phones registered 350,000 orders in the first flash sale, which depleted the initial stock.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi showed off a prototype with two Xiaomi 12S Ultra 1-inch sensors – one that’s the same as on the 12S Ultra, complete with a lens, and the other without a lens and can attach a Leica M glass on top! It needs an adapter and makes everything bulky but it’s a phone with interchangeable lenses! Odds are we won’t see this prototype hit the shelves – the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Pro is said to have a 1-inch sensor as well, and a special edition of this device is probably more suitable.
Huawei has announced the Pocket S – its cheapest foldable to date at CNY 5,988 ($820 / €830) (though you’ll currently find the Galaxy Z Flip4 at a lower price tag on the black market). The China-bound Pocket S is a watered down version of the P50 Pocket with less impressive cameras and Snapdragon 778G chipset.
